Garden Update! Cotton, amaranth & more…

It has been a while since I’ve done a garden update, but here it is!

All in all, things are looking pretty good. (And the cotton that I mention in the video is actually coming up! They haven’t all sprouted yet, but I’m expecting that at least a few more will…maybe?) And the borage that came up from seed from last year is blooming–it’s so lovely!

We have had so much rain, though…I’m hoping we will have a break from it for a little while at least. It seems to be keeping the weeds out, and the vegetables have been thriving, so I’m thankful for that…

If you watch the video, you’ll notice some very bare soil, though I was so enthusiastic about mulching/no-till gardening last year…basically, that has to do with being limited on time and needing to address some of the issues we ended up having with the mulch…so I’m not giving up on the mulch, but for right now, we’re just tilling. (I might address this more in-depth in a later post…)

Right now, we’re really just waiting for stuff to grow. But I did eat some amazing radishes. And a few onions could be pulled…

One new thing I’m really excited about is my Hopi Red Amaranth; apparently, you can use it for dyeing fibers, so you know I’m all about that!

How’s your garden doing?
